Douglas, it's going back a bit, so my memory is hazy, but I seem to recall that the adaptec scsi card supplied with my FS2710 would not work with other scsi devices (this was under windows, of course). I had to buy a new card before I could put a tape drive on, but both items worked fine from the Tekram card that I have in now. I think it would be worth a google on that card model.
