i am confused as to why a chgrp command on a symbolic link will change the group of the link and not the target but a chmod command on the link will change the mode of the target and leave the link alone, i'm sure this isn't what i should expect but this seems so basic that i can't believe i have a bug, the two symbolic links are: [EMAIL PROTECTED] bascule]$ ls /dev/mix* /dev/mixer@ /dev/mixer1@
