You guys can deactivate the ifplugd very easily - by playing with
MII_NOT_SUPPORTED=yes
in the /etc/sysconfig/ifcfg-eth? file.
I have however a patched ifup script version that handles this part too.
Sent the patch to the list some time ago ...
