This may or may not work: I once wanted to install a program which
required an older Qt version than the one I had, so I got a tarball of the
older Qt version and ran ./configure with an option to install it in another
directory than the current Qt. Started the dependent program with a
script which set the $QTDIR to the /path/to/older/Qt and that
did the trick. You may consider a similar approach.
