Only reason I use 65 is that I read somewhere in my FreeBSD days that anything less wouldn't win out over NT. kept using it ever since.

I've been running Samba on my LAN for over a year now and I've no idea what you're talking about. I have a feeling I'm about to learn something very interesting. What is it you're talking about?
I've got two workstations connecting to the samba server, ( XP & Win98 ) and I've never had any of the issues that have been mentioned.
