AFAIR it was a topic in the Mandrake newsgroup but I can't find it at the moment.
Try vga=ask, and see what options come up.
When you say "all kinds of", what specifically have you tried?
1. all options given when "vga=ask" is in lilo.conf 2. all options listed in the advanced screen in boot configuration in
MCC (which is the same, I think).
It must be something connected to the screen of that laptop. I don't have the same problem on my desktop pc, same Mandrake and driver version.

I know someone who had a similar problem with a gf4 440se 128 card in a desktop never did get it resolved he tried my gf4 420mx 64 card and no problems. So he bought same card (gf4 440se 128) from different manufacturer and no problems, we thought it be something to do with the card manufacturer, but do not know for sure.
Anyways there is an nvidia linux forum that might help.
