The traditional unix way by highlighting text and then middle clicking where you want it, and the windows way, where you use ctrl-c and ctrl-v to do the job. Consequently there are two different buffers you are using. Every time I have had trouble pasting something with ctrl-v, as in your example, something else unexpected, it turned out that I had some text highlighted somewhere else that caused the trouble. -- /g
