In reply to both Derek and Stian, The way the Directory is organized is, AFAIK, not part of this goal. it's always a problem when there's more than one item/request by bug entry. For the organization part, I opened a new bug entry: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=351624
Derek, about your second paragraph. Not a dumb idea at all, but it's more like having support for multiple albums in f-spot. Maybe a little too much to be part of this goal.
