Guys, Below is the thought process behind race groupings by the SEDIV officials - the need is for a minimum of 15 cars per group. The obvious response is to have F5's come out in higher numbers because that is what the officials pay attention to but the other consideration is having regional classes added to a National race weekend. Before Spec Miata's were regional but now SM's are a national class and national entries have increased to the point that there is little time left to run regional cars in the same weekend without taking time away from the national classes. In the meantime, we need more F5 entries at Road Atlanta (and everywhere else for that matter) if we are to have any influence with the groupings and track time. I hope to see you in June. Jim, At the March National the DSRs actually requested a move to the FF, F5, FV group in order to better balance the sizes of the race groups. ALL the affected parties signed the petition except one guy in a DSR (a doctor) that had already made travel plans and workshift assignments based on racing before lunch, so obviously the non-winged guys were not that concerned about racing with the DSRs. The problem is that, for whatever reasons, the FF, F5 and FV guys stay away from Road Atlanta in droves (they were still the smallest group in March even after giving them back their own group). We simply cannot afford to provide a race group for less than 15 cars. You're certainly welcome to introduce a SEDIV policy change if you wish. I can pretty much guarantee, however, that all the racing regions that host Nationals would vote against it for financial reasons. Thanks Tere From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, April 27, 2006 2:37 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Race Groupings for the June National Tere, I just saw the schedule and was surprised to see DSR's in with the FF, F5 & FV group. Didn't we just get over this mis-grouping issue for the March National? Talk about a HUGE speed differential!!! Please fix this asap (winged in one group & non-winged in the 2nd group). I believe that the underlying cause of these mis-groupings is the inclusion of regional classes in a National race weekend (Pro-IT in this case). With the addition of Spec Miata as a national class, the balance (between regional & national entries) has now changed to where there is no longer enough room for regional classes in National weekends. We need a SEDIV policy change now in preparation for the mid-year scheduling meeting for the 2007 schedule whereby regional and national classes no longer run in the same race weekend. I do see one exception - as an option on three day weekends, one of the days can be run just for regional racing. I hope to hear from you soon.
