We tighten both halves and then slip the o-ring around the outer bead and
it then rolls down and into place. We have a light grease on it, not too
much and they usually seal pretty good. It they are on the car we usually
don't have any problem with leaks, as the bolts holding the wheels on help
hold the air in. Off the car, they will probably leak down after a few
days. But some times they last longer, but you never know.

When you tighten the wheel bolts, the o-ring is pushed outwards to the

sealing place. And the o-rings are re-usable, as long as they are kept
greased.
The grease also acts as a sealing agent to keep the air inside the
wheel/tire.

I don't know that I know of anyone who has run tubes. To seal the rim
halves together, use a high quality adhesive silicone sealant. You can
run a small bead then smear it smooth with a finger. Let it cure before
mounting tires, and you should be good to go.
