David,

I am sure that some FF drivers are content to run the engine to the point
that it starts to burn oil and oil pressure drops due to bearing wear.
However I have crewed for FF drivers for about 15 years and I know for a
fact that the ones that are wanting to win races and be in contention for
the region championship, will rebuild there engine every year. Also most
will lap the valves and adjust the valve clearance before every race
weekend.

Some else mentioned $3,000,00 for a engine rebuild by one of the top engine
builders, this sounds about right based on my conversations with the owners.

I also think that most, if not all FF drivers would rather eat ragweed than
race a car with a two cycle engine. It's just were they come from. Me, I
don't understand why you would want to put a tractor engine in a race car.

Richard
