Chris, Whatever beast you end up with it'll be a Formula Special I believe, because it won't fit into any other class. FS-600 in your case. Keep wings off of it and you'll probably run in the same group as the F5's. IMHO.

Lap times aside, and that's not the only criteria for choosing a car as I've dicussed before. It's the things that the F500 chassis doesn't have that makes it atractive and different, and can also be a selling point for the F500 class as is. It's the only SCCA class that mandates a straight live axle, and also the only that has rubber puck shocks. To me, and everybody that I spoke with in the karting world, that spells "easier" setups, and lower costs. The distintion between a F600 and a F500 is also very clear, gearbox, no gearbox, 2 stroke, 4 stroke. Maybe it should be called F500 CVT, and F500 Gearbox, or F500 2 Stroke, and F500 4 Stroke. The concern is that if F600 gets close to our price point for a conversion car, the distinction between F500, F600 and FF will get very blurry, and do so rapidly. Our lap times are effectively identical now, so there would be no need for 'adjustments'. Topeka is already searching for ways to eliminate 'weaker' classes; since we are currently the lowest in open-wheel participation numbers, we stand the most risk of losing our status as a separate class. --------------------------------- Get your email and more, right on the new Yahoo.com ________________________________ FormulaCar Magazine - A Proud Supporter of Formula 500 The Official Publication of Junior Formula Car Racing Subscribe Today! www.formulacarmag.com or 519-624-2003 _________________________________ _______________________________________________ F500 mailing list - [email protected] To unsubscribe or change options please visit: http://f500.org/mailman/listinfo/f500 *** Please, DO NOT send unsubscribe requests to the mailing list! ***
