I sent this post without the proper thread title on it. Sorry. I just spoke with our Oregon Region representative on the BoD and asked him directly why the puck rule change was rejected when the CRB was in 100% support of it.
His response was that a F500 car manufacturer (he didn't recall who) as well as a few our members actually wrote to the BoD requesting the change not be made. He said that what really got their attention was that a manufacturer was expressing concern about going to this new size puck. He also said that if our members would write directly to the BoD asking for reconsideration of the rule change at their December meeting he would perhaps lobby harder for the change to go through. Our representative is Howard "Duck" Allen and is the first person I had contact with when I started racing this year and I have to say that from my personal experience he is a man of his word. Something else that would help a lot is if someone could possibly do some testing of this new size puck and provide a report on the benefits or non-benefits to making the change. I'm not an engineer and am certainly not qualified to do this but I know we have some very talented people in our class who could probably do some effective testing. I would personally be willing to send a $20 bill to whoever wants to test this new product to help with the cost. If we all sent $10 or $20 we would no doubt have enough money to cover the cost of the pucks as well as some track time for a test. In return, all who contribute money get the results from the test. If you guys really want this rule change to happen, it can. We just need to get a little more organized. I will put as much pressure on the "Duck" as possible to make sure he pushes for the change so long as we do our part and step up with the requests for reconsideration. Thanks, Sean Sean G.
