Lets go back about 20 years with regards to purpose built racecars:
AM-not many limits
BM-GCR Legal Road Racing open wheel cars! FA, SuperVee, FF, etc.
Note: Most FF were fited with twin webers and 8" front and 10"
wide rear rims making them FA cars of sorts and a few GCR FF's.
CM-GCR Legal Road Racing Sports Racers (CSR & DSR, etc) and a few other types
of cars I think!
DM-FV, SV, etc

Then things were changed for the better:

AM-still not many limits but most of the current cars are not GCR legal
road race cars!
BM-GCR legal CSR and DSR's moved to BM with other GCR legal
open wheel cars including F2000!
CM-GCR legal FF's and Sports2000 (Lola's etc)
The reason for this was that SCCA wanted people to be able to buy up many of
the older FF's that were considered junk to most of the Road Race guys. This
was just around the time someone was think up ClubFF.
You could buy a FF and have a lot of fun without turning it into something is
was not ment to be, a cheep Formula Atlantic for Solo II!
DM-Was for GCR Legal FV and SV (not GCR Legal) and maybe a few other cars.

Note that it was mentioned in plain English that if the Sports 2000 cars extra
power made the FF's uncompetitive, they would suffer being moved or weight
added. As I remember the club wanted CM to be a FF class. They were correct
as it has grow over the years. Someone stated that F440 was in CM which I
believe is true. Later to be moved to FM with the FV and SV.

FM-Currently is for GCR legal F440/F500 and GCR legal FV. Also included is
SoloV, which is almost like the original Super Vees. Yes that is how Super
Vee got started before they went off the scale and water-cooled!

Ok, my point is that most AM cars and all SV's are the only non GCR Legal Road
Race cars in the mod classes. Using the reasoning for having FF be the
foundation for CM I contend that F440/F500 should be the foundation for FM due
to the fact that they are completely GCR Legal. One of the guys in my region
always would forget that the 18 inch shorties are optional tires for the Race
Race cars, plus we are allowed 8 inch wide rims at all four corners, so again
all of us using 7 to 7 1/2 inch front rims are still using optional GCR legal
wheels and tires.

So in conclusion I think that the SV have more than enough parity with the
F440/F500 without upsetting the fact that F440/F500 is a better bang for the
buck. You can only go so far with parts that were designed in 1937 for a
street car. What my friends and I should have done thirty years ago is push
for first a regional FV class for Solo II and then if it worked out in other
parts of the country would have pushed for National Status.
I bet if you did that now you would be surprised how many older FV's would
come out of the garage to run in events all over the country. But then that
leaves a question of what to do with some very expense SV's!

I guess the answer is you can't will them all. This was just a F440/F500
year! There is always next year.

into race cars.
