New guy question here....what's this "dime test"? John Vriesinga <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Well was he mostly spinning going into the corners or > coming out? > What did he whine about most?
Maybe we can get him to chime in here. He has much more experience than I and would be a better judge of where this is happening, but my recollection is that he was complaining that neither end of the car would do anything. I messed with the back end a bit during lunch break and did get some significant improvement, but Les still felt that he could do 4-5 seconds less time in his car. We did the dime test on the tires and it stood up reasonably well, so the general consensus was that the tires were pretty good. In our discussions in the pit area, the idea of widening the car came out and it was suggested that this was "the" way to reduce oversteer. Since I know I can make the front better quite easily, I'm mainly concerned about the back, and I thought I'd see what you guys thought about widening the rear. I think I'll try the least radical approaches first and go with softening the back end somehow, but that is practically a brick. After rebuilding the rear springs/canisters there is almost no movement up or down even when I plop my 200lb carcass on it. It is very stiff even though the rubbers I put in were quite malleable and easily squished by hand. I'll have to look not this matter a bit further. Thanks for the suggestions guys!
