If you road race, remember the 50/50 rule on paint jobs - i.e. it only has
to look good at 50 feet and 50 miles per hour.

You have to keep in mind that automotive clear protects the color
underneath it from those rock chips and fading. I do not road race ( I
Solo) , but I would bet that a 2 stage paint job would last a couple of
years, unless you have a big crash. If you are doing a lot of abrasive
driving, then single stage would save you some work and money.

My body is all primed and ready for paint. I have painted cars before 
using base/clear. That seems like overkill for something that is going 
to get rock chipped, etc. What is everyone using out there? Are you 
protecting the leading edges of the sidepods with anything?
