Thanks Chris. Also I butchered the link to Isaac. It's www.isaacdirect.com

JD, I put an email in to my buddy at NASCAR, he does ALL the testing and
collects the data for these devices. I'll let you know what he said.

Extension of your neck is not what breaks your neck. Yes your head will
extend further with Isaac, but when was the last time you broke your neck
touching your chin on your chest ? After a presentation of the Isaac by
Gregg Baker, you'll soon realize it's anything but scary. If your open
minded enough take a look at the isaac site www.isaacdevice.com Not only
did the Isaac outperform the Hans in both the Wayne State University and
Delphi test, the difference in lateral was dramatic. Mr. Baker put it like
this... "you can't push rope" that's what the tethers on the Hans equal.
Before you think that I'm sold on the Isaac, I'm not. I'm just trying to
research the head and neck restraint as thoroughly as I would a part for
my
car.

I think the only system approved by NASCAR is still the HANS. That ISAAC
system looks scary!!! The opening photo of the HANS next to the ISAAC,
you can see have much further the head extends in the ISAAC. It's very
dependent on the angle of that shock to the belt.

I like the HANS because it goes where I go. It is only attached to the
helmet (i.e., the helmet bone connected to the head bone, etc.).

Well, In a way I stand somewhat corrected. Earlier this year there was a
member advisory suggesting that "only SFI rated devices should be
purchased"
and said that come the year that non-SFI rated devices would not be
approved.
This also said any devices that attach to the harnesses would not be
acceptable. (NO Hutchins, no ISAAC).
When I look in the 2007 GCR, I can't
find any of this language, so somehow it is apparently not finalized. It
still just says "head and neck restraints are suggested" or something to
that
effect. (p 76).
I like the ISSAC, but i don't like three latches to hit to
get out of a burning car. I just want to do one to get out of the belts
and
be on my way. If they could figure out a better way to get out of the
thing,
it would be good. For that matter, I think HANS should buy ISAAC just to
get
the damper system and put it into the HANS or R3 designs...

Is there a list of what is legal in SCCA ? My
understanding is that SCCA
rejected the SFI standard.
I've been looking at
the ISAAC Device. It surpasses the Hans in the tests,
but because of the 2
release points it won't get the SFI sticker.

Poor test results and no longer legal in the SCCA.

Has
anyone ever looked into or used the SDS system made by G-Force?
It
looks like
it would perform well and it is only about 300$
