Let me first state that I am not trying to find loopholes in the rules
or gain an unfair advantage. In fact, given that I drive one of those
piece of s$%t Zinks with a lowly Kawi motor, I doubt I am a threat to
anyone.
I dug deep through both the 2007 GCR and Solo rule books concerning oil
injection and fuel.
Section 9.1.1, E.14 of the GCR states: "No component of approved engines
may be altered, modified, or changed, nor be of any other than original
equipment manufacture unless specifically authorized. Engine components
shall be assembled in stock configuration. Stock configuration is
defined as including: thermostat, water outlet elbow, ignition harness,
etc."
Section 9.3.25 (Fuel) of the GCR offers parameters for the testing of
fuel from 2-cycle motors, both injected and non-injected.
The Solo rule book mentions nothing about oil injection in the Formula
section of Appendix A.
So...my oil pump is installed in the stock configuration. I just happen
to have no oil tank (or if needed, a tank with no oil in it). I could
see a problem if the pump was completely removed and someone was able to
gain 1/10 hp (being generous here) from the loss of friction from the pump.
I think this is worth bring up to the SCCA. How does one petition the CRB?
Thanks for "listening".
