John,

If you are only auto-xing, then the style of mirrors does not matter, as top
speed is not that high, (do you need mirrors at all ?), but for road racing,
especially on tracks that have long straights, you want mirrors that are
small and somewhat streamlined.  The mirrors look like a big air brake at
speed.

I think a trip to the local motorcyle junk yard would produce a pair of
mirrors that would work just great at a low cost.
