After this, are your plugs wet? Are they fouled? Are they new? Is
your primer (choke) on or off? Where is your idle adjust screw at?

Put some fuel in a little squirt bottle of some sort and give a squirt
in each carb with the throttle open so it goes in. Give it a few yanks.
If the plugs were dry before, it should have some kick at this point.
You could also remove the plugs and give a squirt of fuel in each
cylinder.

Good luck! Let us know

Subject: [F500] Re-firing rebuilt 494

Hello all!

I'd like to bounce a situation off the list as I
attempt to start my rebuilt 494 that I've bolted back
into my KBS.

The situation:
-140 psi compression on both cylinders
-spark at both plugs
-40:1 premix in a spare tank that is getting pumped to
the carbs
-idle air mix screws set per the SkiDoo manual (seat
screw and then back out 1.5 turns)

I'm assuming proper timing on the rotary valve and the
magneto firing.

The engine has refused to fire after 300 pulls on the
starter cord (it's a total body workout!). It feels
like some combustion is helping on some of the pulls,
but it's not firing or attempting to catch and run.

Are there other things that I need to check or do?

Thanks for any and all assistance,
Kenneth Kirkland
