Run the course at Ottis Airforce Base in Cape Cod Mass! You would not want a shifter in a F500 car at this very very fast course. A few cars have been totally destroy on this course which is not legal for an SCCA Solo II event. With that said it is a lot of fun with a F440/F500 car and if you use your head it can be fairly safe! The only reason it is not used is because of security after 9/11! It is the type of course that that has A-mod cars doing 70 second runs, F500 82 second runs, and good Corvette's about 84 seconds.

Also, our F440/F500 cars are real racecars, minus diffs, shock absorbers, halfshafts, etc! If we want to go to bike engines, it will not be the same class that we all know. It will be a little bigger SAE car, which I have driven and they are a lot of fun. But it will not be cheap to get to that level for most of us!

Some of you guys just don't get it... "Real" racecars have shifters!!!!
Nobody, read as NOBODY that I have talked to about this class that doesn't currently run the class, would prefer a CVT over a gearbox. Some new blood might put up with the CVT, but if you want the class to survive, you must consider that...

Wrong, the real starting point is considering which 4 stroke snowmoble
engine with cvt that we or future F500 owners are going to want to
use!!!!!!!!!!!

After a year of fighting with the finnicky 2 stroke Kawi, I think a nice
solid and bullet proof motorbike engine would be interesting! I know the
discussion came up before, just around the time I was getting started
witht he f car. I didn't have much experience and therefore didn't really
have an opinion on the matter. It would solve noise problems, and
maintenance would be far less arduous. So, is this idea just a
non-starter?
