The annual recruitment issue of PIT TALK, the NER SCCA magazine, just
arrived. I believe that the following description of Formula 500 in
the road racing section, which hasn't changed in years, needs a re-
write:

"A Formula 500 (F500) racing car is something of a cross between a
Formula Vee and a Go Kart. These open-wheel, open-cockpit cars are
powered by a two-stroke snowmobile engine. They are generally faster
in a straight line than a Formula Vee, but don't corner quite as well."

I don't want to offend whoever wrote it, but every year I read it,
the Go Kart and FV comparison in particular causes me great angst
and I think about suggesting a new version. But, because I only do
autocross, I have thought better of it ....until now, with all the
correspondence on this list about class survival. So I am inviting
all of you road racers to help re-write it, then I will suggest a
revision, on behalf of the entire nationwide F5 road racing
community, to NER. It needs points like:

- Best Bang for the buck
- Comparison with FF, not Karts (which you sit on, not in) or FV
- Great entry into open wheel formula cars
- Car you can both road race and autocross
- .................

Go for it!!
