Rusty Cook ended up in the gravel trap in Turn 1, along with what appeared to be an FF, Rusty was able to get out of the trap and continued.
Rusty, and the FF he was glued to, scored a 10 in the category of synchronized spins, and were the first indicator Turn 1 workers had that there was oil on the track. Jack making multiple 360's in the same location was the second indicator for Turn 1 and for the crew on the wall it provided visions of a lot of late night repairs to the two FineLine Racing cars putting on a show at the end of the straight. Jack managed a spin-n-go while Rusty ended up on the edge of the track facing the gravel trap. Fortunately, Rusty hit the "magic button", as a grid worker once called it, and was able to back out of the situation and continue his race. Having reverse gave us a 3rd place finish rather than a 6th. Sweet. As a side note (for some of the long-time racers), Mike Leathers came out to watch the race. It was wonderful seeing him again. We had a chance to visit with him after the race as Rusty let him drive the car from impound back to the garage.
