Bill and others, thanks for the replies. After Jay responded that it was a cost issue, I decided the SCCA would probably not approve aluminum axles at all. Although I know the intent of the F500 rules are too make the cars multi-purpose, the SCCA failed in one major regard. My 1.25 roll hoop can never be used in road racing, but is legal in Solo. I'm not complaining because I know it is a safety issue. Add in the footbox, fire system, and fuel rules, and the multi-purpose concept is pretty much dead now, IMHO.
