You and Lee are both like my dad. When we bought our '89 Red Devil back in late '92 it was a frame and boxes of parts. The owner was in the process of a teardown and rebuild when he got interested in Mini Sprints (I think, it's been awhile) with his son. So before we could run the car, Solo only, he had to put it together. He learned a lot about these cars doing that.

And he is a tinkerer, and this car and class is just what he likes. Work on the car, run it. If it doesn't run like you want it to, figure out a solution and change the car, within the rules of course. :-) And he's changed this car many times over the years and it just gets better. Every car has been tweaked, some more than others. Right Jim.

I'm speaking for myself here, but I suspect that Lee shares my view. I bought an older car, I've spent WAY to much money on it, and WAY more time on it than it is worth. But, I've thoroughly enjoyed the process of ripping things apart and learning about what makes a race car work. I would not have been very happy with something else. What I have is now my own. My blood (yes that too) sweat, toil and money make the car MINE, an extension of me almost. I'm happy with it, even if it is a stone on a track, even if I can't drive it well. 8-)

BUY WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY, BE IT OLD OR NEW.
