Stroud, Novak Bosco et al. C'mon fellas. Please re-read what I wrote. I know
its Saturday evening so the beer may change your reading comprehension BUT
my message was not discouraging M/C power as I had in the past. IT WAS only
to encourage those who would make the conversion NOW to race F5 until then.
Stroud, I am not asking you to "beat a dead horse" or "bang your head
against the wall". You are still racing in F5. Thank you!!! That was all my
email was asking people to do.
Bosco, I am not debating validity here of M/C power...I was simply reminding
people to come race until a change takes place.
Novak, you think you would have cut me some slack since this is the first
time I DIDN'T come out aginst M/C power. And, one of your very good friends
and loyal cusotmers was the one who reminded me to stop worrying about
immediate rule changes. So maybe cut me some slack, re-read and think that
my intent was encouraging rather than discouraging.
To all- I was only trying to stop anyone who is on the fence from "waiting
to see" instead of fielding a car now. We need numbers now.
My fear is that newbies will read the "FUN" debate and not join us until M/C
is available. Or those newbies who are extemeley intelligent, may think we
are all a bunch of self loathers instead of the mostly positive people that
exist in F5 (at least locally).
This M/C thread is so polarized now that I can't even make a "grid call " to
encourage present racing wthout people thinking their is a logic flaw on my
part (Novak) or making people want to inflict self pain "Head bang"(Stroud).
This is my second year racing f5. I have a nat'l license and waited to
comment until I that in hand.
I can say, when I try to encourage people to come race NOW and the
"godfathers" of the class are so quick to criticize it makes me wonder. It
really makes me wonder, if the peolpe are so ready to shoot down dissenters,
that if we aren't killing the class with negativity instead of lack of power
sources.
When I got into the class it was because peole like Palmer, Gill, Sanco, and
McLeod would walk a mile to help ANYONE out, even a competitor. Their
positive attitude was & is incredible.
If I ever consider a leave it would be because I can't get an inch of slack
any more.-The current attitude from some M/C fans is sounding eliteist,
authoratarian and generally lacking any sense of humor or room for debate .-
When did Rush Limbough set the overall tone for F5?
Maybe Don Imus is writing our dialogue on how to treat young Nat' racers?-
Huh?
In my second season, Im' flying the F5 flag high, I'm inviting new people to
the races and this is the responses from the most experienced among us? Is
F5 eating their young Nat'l racers ?
And finally to CR- You can't get your car homologated in F5 until you follow
the current rules. All newbies should realize that it is imposssible to
slap in a 600cc M/c and gain homologation. DO NOT follow his lead on this if
you plan on raing f5 this year.. Chris you can't race with us until at
least '09-10. Get out and race .....we could use the numbers in f5 not fS.
To the very experienced-Keep telling the current new crop of Nat'l racers
who are fielding cars now, how wrong they are for ever disagreeing (or being
happy about F5) and you just might see us, our dollars and our support
wonder off into another group of happier folks.
If you want us to race and follow your lead to M/C power, then encourage
people to switch only when the time comes and remind us that our investments
are safe for now.
Today-As I drove around the unopend New FIA- Eagles Canyon raceway with a
great friend and competitor who rode his Harley 80 Miles in 40 degree temps
to meet me and preview the track I was reminded that those who rarely speak
up on this board really should. You are the best reasons to race F5.

To all the two stroke fans (myself included) and to those who may think
that this whole four stroke movement will put an end to our fun......Well,
I was reminded by a very neutral party today that even if this ever gets
done, we won't see this in the GCR before 2009.
So we won't see any big number of cars fielded before 2010. That made me
happier than free beer!!!
Maybe it would be wiser for those who are converting their cars to 600cc
power now, to convert back until we see a rule change. If not, your
presence, or lack thereof, may be the straw that breaks the Camels Back and
takes us from Nat'l contention.
Come race with us now-then throw in your four stroke after we survive.
SCCA is keeping score on our present participation.

Just out of curiosity, what do some think that if we get an ALTERNATIVE
engine approved that has equal performance to the 2 stroke, that the 2
stroke engines are gone? Rember the goal is to have an ALTERNATIVE engine,
NOT REPLACEMENT.

Personally, I think this is the best move this class has ever made. Of
course, I am only one opinion, but I think more people (younger people)
would consider the class if the MC engine was approved.
Even if this is not the way to go, everyone has to agree SOMETHING has to
be
done to improve participation numbers.

Jay - do you have a bruise on your forehead like I do from beating your head
against the wall. The ones against the 600cc choose to ignore the goal of
"ALTERNATE" even before we can determine if it is even possible. I admire
you
taking the time to respond but I think the horse is dead.
I know of 6 cars in the SE alone that are in favor of the 600cc
"ALTERNATIVE" that are racing the National schedule this year and will be
fielding cars at the Runoffs with the current set up. Looking at the past
years results, it's also a safe assumption that most will qualify in the
top 15 if not higher. This does not include others I know are in favor of
it as well from other regions that are doing the same. I don't know of
anyone in the SE who has converted their existing cars...only waiting to
see what others investigating the ALTERNATIVE find. So I guess I don't see
the logic here as our presence is where it should be.

I myself plan reguardless to get the car homologated as both F5 and FS.
When and if the 600 gets the green light, I'll be ready, at least partly,
because I'm sure there will be other changes that will need to be done.....
Since FS is the only place we can play for the time being, I would
sugest anybody else that's thinking about it, to do the same so we can all
play together...
