Jay, I doubt that 2-stripokes will ever go away. You may need to find a
non-Austrian mfg someday, but that's about all.
2-strokes offer too much over 4-strokes in terms of significantly less parts
counts and lower weight, plus better torque charaterisitic.
It is Olav Aaen's studied opinion that since the 2-stroke sled mfg are
spending all the necessary money for development, he predicts that 4-strokes
in sleds will go away.

Just out of curiosity, what do some think that if we get an ALTERNATIVE
engine approved that has equal performance to the 2 stroke, that the 2
stroke engines are gone? Rember the goal is to have an ALTERNATIVE engine,
NOT REPLACEMENT.
2 strokes can be forever, or until you can't get them anymore.

To all the two stroke fans (myself included) and to those who may think

was reminded by a very neutral party today that even if this ever gets
done,
we won't see this in the GCR before 2009.
So we won't see any big number of cars fielded before 2010. That made me
happier than free beer!!!
Maybe it would be wiser for those who are converting their cars to 600cc
power now, to convert back until we see a rule change. If not, your
presence, or lack thereof, may be the straw that breaks the Camels Back and
takes us from Nat'l contention.
Come race with us now-then throw in your four stroke after we survive.
SCCA is keeping score on our present participation.
