Thanks Rick, but there is evidence otherwise.

New sled engines still came out this year and they get cleaner and quieter every year.

600cc is a new sled racing class for stock and mod 2-strokes . 440cc still exists but will be phased out.

You may not know Olav Aaen, but he was one of the fathers of our engine and clutch prep for F440.

He still has a large performance and replacement part sled and ATV business.

He says that ATV's will probably be all 4-stroke.

However, he adds that sleds are a market where the mfg are doing their homework, investing big money and still plan on dominating with 2-strokes.

The bone stock Suzuki/Artic Cat 600cc motor has a single pipe with quiet exhasut, EFI, and 126 HP at the crank.

  I disagree!
If the EPA has any say in the matter , it will be the 2 strokes that will be gone.
  My guess, 2012.
This was the second year with bad riding conditions (snowmobiling) in northern WI., if this keeps up, who knows how much longer snowmobile manufactures will keep making snowmobiles, ATV's make more sense.

  Just my opinion.

Jay, I doubt that 2-stripokes will ever go away. You may need to find a
non-Austrian mfg someday, but that's about all.

2-strokes offer too much over 4-strokes in terms of significantly less parts
counts and lower weight, plus better torque charaterisitic.

It is Olav Aaen's studied opinion that since the 2-stroke sled mfg are
spending all the necessary money for development, he predicts that 4-strokes
in sleds will go away.
