Jim, I don't think I missed the point at all. In fact my reading comprehension is as high as my self esteem !- I have a big ego!! Please re-read my post without prescripted myopia. I am not suggesting a mass migration to NASA. I am proposing that we run one BIG event with BIG press coverage, so that "WE" we CAN attract new racers for "OUR" class. You may think one big event with press wouldn't help our class - YEAH, you're right its better if we keep everything our class secret-NOT !!!! I know whats happening now, thank you ! I also know that unless we try something innovative soon the class will die before the changes go through. I, in no way, suggested leaving SCCA. Re -read my post. I am proposing bringing some attention-AND if you can tell me how attention brought to the class is a bad thing then I will counter with the question "Why does anyone promote anything at all". Your alternative is sit on your hands, bi*ch about people like me who are trying to promote our sport, and prepare yourself for the numbers to plumate to extinction while you wait on the changes to go through. I am not saying don't try bike motors. I am trying to raise the class number NOW!! If you would like to participate in a one time crazy experiment that just may get some of your rental customers excited again, then give it some consideration. Most of them and I, "WE" would like some press, some participation and some support. PS-I bet if we do this, Jay will show up with something that will help his future sales figures.

I think you missed the whole point of the engine alternative...We in the class for many years (20) have always had the chance to go to the runoffs ..What's happening now is that only the top 24 classess in participation will be able to attend...We f 500 albeit , fast and afforable are not attracting new racers at the rate to stay national..THATS the reason for some changes, we need to make the class attractive...WE need to stay a national class..IN SCCA ..Nasa events don't help.....
