I don't know if it is true or not, but I really wanted a set of 35s to run at
Beaver Run today, but the Hoosier guys didn't have any. They said that Hoosier
quit making tires in that compound for our cars. I will investigate further.

Agree in principle but, I called Hoosier a couple of years ago when the new
compounds emerged and got the straight "skinny" on the differences:

R25 to R25A - Overall better grip and better wear characteristics.. Also
fires (gets up to operating temp.) faster (~1-2 laps). We've got used
R25A's with more than one season on them that the durometer indicate are
softer than unscuffed R25's (yes, I scuffed off a patch to get a good
reading). The Hallett surface and July temp.'s will probably eat these
things up in a day.

R33 to R35 - R35 fires as fast as the old R25 (2-4 laps). Grips better than
the R33 with better wear characteristics. I wouldn't even pack these for a
Winter race (e.g., Feb. Double's, etc.).

Your choice but, Cory is right: The hotter the ambient and more abrasive
the surface, the more likely you should consider the harder compound.

As the ads state, your results may vary.
