This issue is separate from the leg protection rules. The language they are proposing to add for all formula cars is directly from the FF rules and wasn't previously applicable to our cars. I haven't measured my car yet, but I'm willing to bet that 15.75" in front of my brake pedal is nothing but air and not something I can attach an impact attenuation structure to. I don't see a problem with fitting something that is 31 square inches in at that point (that's only 5X6.2 inches or 6.3" dia); the problem I see is welding structure into the nose of the car to anchor tit to. I doubt if anyone consciously intended it as such, but this may be another nail for the coffin of us as a national class.
