Years ago I asked Mike Keirns about boots and he said they wouldn't last because of the high rpm. I never used anything on the CV joint.

1987 KBS Mk3, modified with quad link rear suspension, but the links are much longer than the distance between the jackshaft and the rear axle, so CV joints are needed to allow for suspension travel. They were universal replacement boots from Autozone, cut down to the smallest of 3 big end size steps. They were NOT the split type that you can put on without disassembling the joint. I will be posting a photo soon.

Subject: [F500] High Speed CV Boots?

Has anyone found a more elegant jackshaft CV boot than plastic spray
can covers? They worked for years in my car, but while I had
everything apart to do the engine swap, I installed rubber automotive
boots which looked great until they disintegrated during my first
autocross run. The jackshaft runs at 5x road speed plus another
factor due to the small wheels, so at my top speed of 62 MPH, it was
like ~400 mph in a normal vehicle. The new 493 engine is awesome.
