Since I'm going to be buying some aluminum to replace a couple of
pieces on my KBS Mk 5, I'm curious what alloy I should get. I'll be
replacing a rear sidepod floor panel and making stressed panels when I
remove the large, round upper cockpit tube to replace it with a higher,
rectangular tubing bar with stressed panel. It looks like all the
panels are 18 gauge with the exception of the center floor panel which
appears to be 16 gauge. I'm thinking either 6061 or 2024 due to their
allowable tight bend radius. Any other suggestions?
