Aha! It used to give a decent error message in this case, but then
that broke. I fixed it again:

slava-pestovs-macbook-pro:factor slava$ ./factor -i=../boot.unix-x86.64.image
*** Stage 2 early init... done
Cannot find resource:basis/bootstrap/stage2.factor.
Please move ../boot.unix-x86.64.image to the same directory as the
Factor sources,
and try again.

Hopefully this will clarify things in the future.
