Well I actually heard this from an old TM cronie: this was a specific
instance, with a specific person. I was not meant to apply beyond this
person (a woman IIRC) nor beyond her particular circumstance.

I have never heard this in any of the texts I have read. It's my
impression that this was heard in regard to this woman and everyone
thereafter assumed it was to be applied to every person, all the time.

Yeah I know other people who've had the same experience. One friend in
particular, on old TM teacher, was a big Lakshmi devotee. He said he
would do the mantras and practices only to the point where he felt the
mayic aspect became an issue, that is where the prosperity became more
predominant than his practice. Seemed like good advice.
