In my opinion Maharishi is one of the most extraordinary human beings ever
to walk the planet. He made a remarkable impact during his heyday. Brilliant
mind, limitless energy, powerful charisma. Popularized enlightenment and
techniques to attain it like no other. But he got consumed by the task. Fell
prey to worldly temptations and pressures. Or as Bob says, he's a Hindu monk
(sort of). Not the best of business managers. So the movement is what it is
now - a strange, insignificant little cult. Who's to say that is not exactly
what was supposed to have happened? It happened, so it must have been. Every
cult thinks that it is uniquely qualified to save the world. None are. So it
takes a while for cult members to wake up to the fact that theirs ain't
gonna do it. Many are holding up their sticks, and it appears that for the
most part, the TMO's stick-holding days are over. But hey, maybe it'll get a
second wind. Or maybe not. Stay tuned.
