I find the idea of "Light" as it is expressed in the concept of "The Light of God" as Maharishi has been using lately, to describe, what he used to call, pure consciousness is good to use as a universal theme of spirituality. As, much of the culture these days, is in division: my religion is better than your's and my God is the only way, etc.
I feel the concept "Light of God" , transcends all the specifics, and goes right to the core.
It will always be a mystery, to try to describe in words, the concept of pure consciousness, but, now that God is used so loosely in our culture, to rationalize any behavior including judgement and war, I think making God into a universal theme, is a very wise thing to do...

A couple of days ago I finished my TMSiddhi program and settled into
my rest period. 5 or 10 minutes later I found my awareness coming
back into my "head" after sleep had apparently occured. Instead of
the usual inside of the head with the eyes closed atmosphere of
darkness with thoughts moving around, there was only a vast field of
the most breathtakingly beautiful blue that I had ever seen with
some areas that were sparkling and of a slightly lighter hue. I
heard my voice saying "wow, that's nice", then slowly the blue faded
and was replaced with the inside of the head back of the eyelids
appearance that one see's with their eyes.
Never had this experience before so it's interesting that you would
be mentioning something similar in your post.
