> ---We are survivors of the fanatic feeding frenzy of our own worst beliefs. And so perhaps therefore more tolerant. The very fact that we are TMers and yet have no fear of Movement retaliation and post openly means that we feel we are winners and so this group is validating. Posting therefore here is done as exchange and not as feeding frenzy time like over at amt. I haven't gone there in three years nor will I ever go back. Can't speak as to the fears about Movement retaliation since I'm not living in Fairfield, but nothing I've read about the TM Movement makes me think that they're all a bunch of scary monsters... ----Huh? Well Movement threats to visiting Gurus in Fairfield aside, there's always the internal threat of nonliberation through being stuck in ones habitual tendencies which a manipulating guru then can always turn to his material benefit. Thereby helping foster a spiritual slave mentality which exists merely for his materialistic benefit. And which more importantly does not truely liberate. Later, as in the case of the
Church, the Us vs. Them mentality can be a source for future conflict for the
rest of the institution's history leading to wars.
Moreover, the Movement is a threat
to many people's spiritual evolution thorugh superstitious doctrines, fostering
a closed eye approach to life, and outright degrading the individual into a
submissive and passive trance like life. These things aren't healthy like when
people used to drink cups of ghee every day, or maybe take overdoses of
mercurial rasayanas which give them strange kidney and liver cancers like the
main trustees of the Movement, that is, those who had access to them like
Henning, King, Arenander, and others. Certainly the refusing or even disparaging
of western medicine can make people sick much longer than they need to be.
The fact is that from a simple
doctrine of TM and act, the Movement has aggregated into every aspect of a
person's life, and it's therefore a cult, which by definition removes the will
of the individual and therefore reinforces subservience and
superstition.
These things aren't apparent to one
indoctrinated into them, but they are apparent to outsiders.
