What about the tummo meditators that use considerable effort in their 
meditation but have 4 times lowers metabolic rate than TM?

It's a mistake to try to compare different types of meditation by the 
same criteria used for TM, unless you happen to be comparing to other 
forms of mantra yoga...  Different types of meditation work 
differently.
