Of course this all rides on the assumption that Bob Thurman is the last word on this. I have listened to him speak and find it to be a delightful experience, his thoughts seem to flow in a natural and unimpeded way but to take his opinion here as a benchmark against which other teachers are measured goes against his basic warning.
