And to further this analogy, as I think it is a very appropriate one - it's well-known that women in this situation will rationalize the beatings in every conceivable way to turn it into "it's my fault, because I didn't do such and such...", or "I must have deserved it because I failed him in...", or "He must be doing it for my good, because I KNOW he loves me...", or "But he only acts for my own good, so it must be OK..." Sound familiar?
It's sad to see people subject themselves to emotional, spiritual, economic and even sexual abuse at Maharishi's direct bidding. Yes, I feel it is absolutely abuse to tell people that sex is bad, disgusting, horrible, etc., etc. when it is such an obviously joyous, wonderful, fulfilling experience. Especially when top Movement leaders and possibly even M himself were (or still are) actively pursuing as much sex as they possible can. It's even sadder to see true believers rationalize this abuse as being 'good" or "deserved" or "I'm sure it's for the best."
