********

The Bushes are politically astute, and having seen former Calif Gov
Brown labeled as "Governor Moonbeam" because of Brown's interest in
meditation, are certainly not going to publicly admit that they
started TM. But I can see absolutely no reason why the Beach Boys
raised money for Bush's presidential campaign by throwing fundraising
concerts for him, except the fact that Bush started TM, almost
certainly instructed by Mike Love. You can think otherwise, but I do
not see any other reasonable conclusion, especially because Bush Sr.
met Jenkins when he replaced him as envoy in China, a guy who was so
enthusiastic about TM that he joined the MIU Board of Trustees. If
you can suggest a reason that California surfer-hippie-draftdodging
rock musicians would support Bush, let me know -- lots of rockers
support politicos, but they support politicos who are consistent with
their belief system, and Bush Sr., ex-CIA director and all that, is a
poor match for Beach Boy thinking.

No evidence that I am aware of that the Clintons started TM.

Yup, the lady who initiated him in Tennessee was at MIU for a while.
