I'm pretty sure this has already been done and is continuing. Once you can control sleep it is true that you only need 3 or 4 hours. I consider this a criteria for CC or above. Traditionally many yogis are trained from the start to sleep in meditative posture. Some of the accounts are quite humorous as it is not easy for everyone. Some take to it quite easily and find it a superior form of sleep.
