*************

After the price was raised to $2500, MMY said the following:

In the press conference of 14 May 2003, Maharishi said that he did
not care if TM teachers taught the practice outside of the TM
bureaucracy:
"What I have taught, because it has
it's eternal authenticity in the vedic literature and you should know
that, how many? 30 - 40 thousand
teachers of TM I have trained and many of them have gone on their
own and they may not call it
Maharishi's TM but they are teaching it in some different
name here and there. So there's a lot of these, artificial
things are going on, doesn't matter, as long as
the man is getting something useful to make his life better,
we are satisfied."

I see this whole recert thing as being TM administrator-driven, not
driven by TM's founder:

Either way, it really doesn't make much difference whether a handful
of teachers teach TM on their own (and it will never amount to more
than a handful) -- the future of the TM movement is in India, and a
shell of a movement in the West is OK until India happens:

"As Indian national consciousness rises in coherence -- which is the
basis of invincibility for the nationthen world consciousness will
rise in coherence which is the basis of permanent world peace...One
sun rises, but its innumerable rays spread light everywhere...So it's
natural for the influence of coherence to spread from India to the
whole world."
