To All Members:

Last week, there was an article about the possible evolution of human
beings into two species. The theory is that the separation will be
essentially physical in nature. IMO, this theory has a fatal
weakness in that it did not include the role of consciousness in the
development of human beings. It is entirely possible that the
separation could be in terms of those who are "enlightened" and those
who are not.

The author of the article wrote that some humans in the future will
become more dependent on so called advances in science, such as gene
therapy, to cure illnesses and select certain attributes in their
babies' physical characteristics. This type of development, in vedic
terms, is not necessarily a guarantee to the evolution of the human
soul. It could only further the people's attachment to the
phenomenal world, which is only a source of human suffering.

John R.
