Peter,I respect your opinion but that is all that it is,your opinion.
We've had this dicussion on this forum before(actually I've lost
count).I'm pretty sure I'm very much in the minority(on FFL) but I
think that the whole business of making statements re the nature of
reality based on subjective states is fundamentally flawed.
Consequently statements like"Conciousness has nothing to with
a.....body" have no other basis than someone(in this case you)making
this assertion.Like "God is Love" what does that really mean? It's
anyones guess.Frankly I think one of the problems with
"enlightenment"is for most people who become "enlightened" there is an
apparently irrestible urge to make philosphical statments based on
their"enlightenment".But the more people assert that they have the
(ultimate)truth the surer I feel that they don't.One result of this
perspective is the sense that the best approach to the truth is to ask
questions and when you do make assertions always be ready to question
your assertions no matter how self evident or cosmic they may seem. Its
because of the latter that term Vedic Science is an oxymoron. For proof
of the latter think of the last time you remember someone who is a
practioner of Jyotish asking "is it really true that the stars
influence peoples lives".Of course that hasn't happened and jyotish
hasn't really changed for a very long time although there are pretty
good reasons to believe that it has very little
validity."Enlightenment"may have a profound psychological value for
the "one" who is enlightened but I think that is as far as it goes.Kevin
