That's exactly it. You and Curtis have a similar vibe and intent in my opinion, marked by the fact that neither of you ever tries to assert that your view of things is "right" or "correct." You never try to SELL it as the "proper" view. Judy always does. She's *compulsive* about having to "win," to "prove someone wrong." Her whole LIFE is in terms of these "Strike one...strike two... wanna go for strike three?" comments. I've been characterizing it lately as the "Gotta Get" mentality. Barry says something that she disagrees with, so she's "Gotta Get Barry." Vaj says something she disagrees with, so she's "Gotta Get Vaj." You say something she disagrees with, and she's "Gotta Get Geez." Soon it'll be "Gotta Get Ruth," because Ruth's cred- ence and intelligence here on FFL are growing at the same time that Judy's are decreasing. So soon she'll find a way to try to suck Ruth into one of these head-to-head nitpick battles so that she can claim, "Strike one...strike two...strike three" about her as well. I just think it's SAD, that's all. The woman IS potentially intelligent. She just WASTES all that potential by trying to "score points" and "win" and declare herself the "winner" in discussions that aren't even a CONTEST, for fuck's sake. Your last sentence said it all. It's just fun to talk, to discuss, to learn from each other, *whether or not we agree with them*. Only a fundamentalist tries to "make" everyone agree with them...
