I went to the Register office for Trademarks in Norway and talked to
a Lawyer in the office. The TMO had applied several times to get
registered "Transcendental Meditation" as Trademark. Every time they
were turned down. The Lawyer told me that the word "transcendental"
is a description of a state in consciousness, and that they would not
accept to trademark a description of a word. The same
with "meditation". So she said: "You should just go ahead and use
Transcendental Meditation in you advertising". But this is Norway -
maybe it is different in other countries - I do not know.
