Think you're right. Pervasive accent. Once spoke to a guy who was from
Florida who had a heavy one. Asked him when he left NY. Red faced he
stammered, "I ain't nevah been tah Nu Yourk." Uh oh. Kinda rivals the
time I asked a woman when she was "due". Naw, nothing could rival that.

Please pardon me my Jewish brethern, but I found that to be the Jewish
pronunciation. I married a girl of the Jewish persuasion. My parents
are Catholic so we had to get a Priest and a Rabbi. Had the mrriage
on "nuetral" turf at the "Tree House Room" in Syosset (LI). I feel I
have assumed the role of story teller on this forum and don't know if
it's appreciated/boring or whatever; but this is a funny story if
anyone is interested. We got a book "When a Jew and a Christian Marry"
(it's the closet we could get to Catholic - which all good Catholics of
my generation knew was FAR superior to Christian "You mean we're
Christians?" NO - We're Catholics!)

Interest in politics or interest in changing this cockeyed world?
You got too much to give to give up.
