I was more convinced when they had a practical nature--curing someone

that it seemed to have some value on the relative level.

Jeff:

These are the things (above snips)I feel are important: people taking
responsibility for the condition of this planet and DOING
someting about it. Let's see some real tangible results that
most everyone can relate to and benefit from.

Well in my own experiences with siddhis, both in practice and in
others, there are certain things I look for based on that experience.
Having heard the experiences of those who were hypnotized and
experienced incredible things, I note the experiential differences
between the two and then on observation go with which feels right.

Jeff:

For me, personal observation is key. But you must be willing and able
to see what is REALLY there. I've done drills where someone walked me
around and asked me what I "saw." I might say "I see that guy's left
ear" but then realize the top of it is covered by hair, so I was only
"seeing" the bottom of his ear. Helped me to take the time to look
more and not jump to conclusions so fast (snake or string?). And to be
willing, upon close observation, to decide what is real for me, even if
it forces me to change or shift positions. It becomes a matter of
personal integrity to the self, which I believe is essential if were to
make that s into S.

When one is forced in to justifications of certain things in order to
have them fit in to a previously adopted paradigm, the slippery slope
of compromise (IMO) with one's own integrity has begun. And for me,
that's not pretty - but pretty sad.
